Molluscum Contagiosum
Molluscum Contagiosum (MC) is a common viral skin infection that mainly affects infants and children although adults can also be affected. It presents as small pearly round bumps (known as papules) with a small central pit (known as an umbilication - like a belly button). the lesions tend to occur in the armpits, groin and behind the knees but can occur anywhere. An inflammatory reaction (eczema) can occur aroun the lesions and this is more common in children who suffer from childhood eczema. Children with eczema get more severe molluscum with a larger number of lesions due to scratching.
The Skin Pharmacy has it's own information section on Molluscum Contagiosum and the treatments on offer such as Poxiderm. This information can be found here
